General Synod

“This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.”
(1 Corinthians 7:17)

The highest governing body of the Reformed Church in America is its General Synod. It has authority in all matters regarding the denomination’s programs and policies. Membership in the General Synod is drawn from ministers and elders representing each classis and regional synod.

Official duties of the General Synod are conducted in an annual meeting. Non-voting volunteers regularly attend the annual meeting and are authorized to serve on the denomination’s 16 commissions, agencies, and boards.

For current information on the General Synod, including news regarding its next meeting, visit the denomination's website.
